Local artist Simon Frank who won the Locke Street Art Project for his submission, titled "Concrete Poetry" has his project underway: a poem that is being distributed along Locke Street in small bronze plaques embedded into the sidewalk.

The Vintage Garden Tea Room was featured on the TV show Princess on the Slice Network! The episode features Spencer, the first ever male “Princess” and aired Monday, December 12th at 8:30pm on Slice TV.

In this series, Gail Vaz-Oxlade, host of the hit series Til Debt Do Us Part, tackles the newest generation of spoiled spenders. Over a six week period, Gail takes away these Princess’s credit cards, puts them on a cash diet and challenges them to start achieving goals. Using her no-nonsense tough talk, Gail confronts, cajoles and guides these spoiled Princesses as they transform into self-sufficient young women. Packed with Gail’s practical financial advice and compelling candidates, Princess is candid and entertaining viewing for a wide range of audiences.

Locke Library Author Readings:

The Locke Library has booked a series of local author readings for 2012. Once a month, usually on Thursday afternoons, one of our local authors will read from their work and answer questions from the audience. Most of the authors write for adult audiences but there are three children’s authors coming as well. Please invite your friends – everyone is welcome! No registration is necessary, just a love of good books – which our neighbourhood has in abundance!
